MAN Truck & Bus at IAA Transportation 2026
From September 14 to 20, in Hanover, Germany, MAN Truck & Bus is cooperating with infrastructure and engineering partners to deploy high-power charging standards and specialized electrified drivetrains across commercial fleets.

MAN Truck & Bus is collaborating with charging network operator Milence and Swiss engineering specialist Flux to advance zero-emission logistics and municipal fleet infrastructure. Commercial transport requires high vehicle uptime, demanding significant charging throughput and powertrain adaptations that OEM series production cannot always accommodate independently.
Megawatt Charging Integration
Long-haul logistics require battery replenishment during standard operational rest periods. MAN Truck & Bus has integrated the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) interface into the eTGX and eTGS commercial platforms. Partnering with Milence, the joint setup verifies operational protocols capable of charging vehicle traction batteries from 20 percent to 80 percent state-of-charge within approximately 30 minutes.
Demonstrated at IAA Transportation (14 to 20 September 2026, Hanover), this configuration allows logistics operators to maintain operational scheduling without extended dwell times. The system couples directly with depot-level smart energy management and digital infrastructure to prevent local grid saturation during high-power draw events.
Specialized Drivetrain Engineering
For municipal operations, fire services, and emergency transport, standard electric vans face payload, gross weight, and auxiliary power constraints. MAN Truck & Bus partnered with Swiss firm Flux to engineer two specialized commercial vehicles based on the MAN TGE platform.
Flux integrated an all-wheel-drive configuration and electric power take-off (ePTO) modules powered by a 119 kWh battery system. This architecture delivers up to 480 kilometers of range under WLTP standards while supplying direct high-voltage power to mechanical auxiliary equipment. The joint configuration preserves essential utility functions while converting heavy municipal bodies to zero direct emissions.
Operational Application and Efficiency
The combined initiatives address regional and long-haul supply chains as well as municipal services. By combining vehicle-level modular battery packs with Milence MCS infrastructure, heavy freight tractor units achieve ranges up to 720 kilometers on 6x2 configurations without compromising the standard 25-tonne payload capacity.
Complementary depot charging solutions, including local photovoltaic integration and stationary storage, mitigate high grid connection costs. Analysis indicates that optimized depot energy usage yields up to a 13 percent total cost advantage compared to conventional diesel drivetrains over a five-year lifecycle. Field validation across diverse fleet profiles confirms that hardware interoperability between vehicle interfaces and multi-megawatt dispensers remains the critical mechanism for widespread transport electrification.
