Connected, self-sufficient, and optimally tempered: Eberspaecher at RETTmobil 2020

Together with Eberspaecher Kalori, Eberspaecher is presenting innovative solutions for emergency vehicles at RETTmobil 2020 (Hall 7, Stand 711) – and not just in the field of heating and cooling. With the Eberspaecher connectivity solution, fleet operators can network different components and integrate individual digital services. The Esslingen-based thermal management experts have now added Energy Storage Systems such as the Xellstor auxiliary battery family to their product portfolio. These enable a self-sufficient energy supply for the vehicle. Efficient fuel operated and electrical heater solutions ensure that heat is quickly and constantly available.

Connected, self-sufficient, and optimally tempered: Eberspaecher at RETTmobil 2020

As a heating and cooling expert, Eberspaecher offers thermal management solutions tailored to the special requirements of ambulance services. Data-based services will also play an increasingly important role in the mobility of tomorrow. With the connectivity solution from Eberspaecher, the Esslingen-based company will be able to meet these developments according to customer requirements moving forward: Various components are networked in each vehicle via a central control unit, and the vehicles are interconnected via a digital platform.

This allows fleet operators to view or control important information concerning the systems in the respective vehicle, regardless of location. In addition, individual digital services such as a warehouse inventory system can be integrated into the digital platform by Eberspaecher. Thanks to the modular architecture, additional components from body manufacturers and OEMs can also be integrated at low expense.

Self-sufficient energy supply

Energy Storage Systems are needed to allow additional electrical consumption – such as by ventilators in ambulances – to be supplied with power that does not rely on the vehicle battery. The Esslingen-based company is thus expanding its product portfolio: With a 12 V/90 Ah auxiliary battery, Eberspaecher will offer the first variant of the lithium-ion-based Xellstor battery family starting in spring 2021. It enables low-emission applications in urban areas. The modular design of the high-performance battery also allows individual adjustments to be made for the respective power requirements in the vehicle.

Reliable heat in emergency vehicles with fuel operated heater solutions

An individually adjustable and constant temperature in the patient compartment of emergency vehicles is essential – especially for patients with special medical requirements. Air heaters are the ideal solution here: They quickly provide a consistent heat in the interior. Thanks to the stepless heat output control and the acoustically improved metering pump, the Airtronic M2 Commercial operates quietly. The robust design enables a long service life of up to 5,000 operating hours. The compact and efficient Hydronic S3 Economy water heater is suitable for heating the driver’s cab. The Eberspaecher pre-heaters can be easily and conveniently controlled using, for example, the permanently installed EasyStart Pro operating element.

Electrical 230 V heating system for a warm interior and preheated engine
The Plugtronic electrical heating system provides pleasant warmth from the get-go. The system has a modular structure: As a coolant heater integrated into the vehicle’s cooling circuit, it can already preheat the engine and driver’s cab at the rescue station ¬– without producing any emissions. The compact air heater can be flexibly positioned to offer preheating solely to the patient compartment.

Broad portfolio of air-conditioning systems for all installation requirements
Eberspaecher Kalori's comprehensive product range includes a variety of air conditioning solutions to ensure optimum temperatures in the vehicle even on hot days. The HK EVO4 Kombi evaporator unit impresses with a cooling capacity of 8.6 kW and a very compact design for installation in the vehicle interior. The Klimatop is the optimal solution for simple and uncomplicated installation on the vehicle roof. Its installation on the roof makes better use of the interior space. The universal external under-chassis condenser unit Power K Reverse includes an electric compressor, a condenser and a filter drier.

It is the ideal solution enabling the installation of air-conditioning systems in any vehicle no matter the drive type and is mounted under the vehicle chassis to save space. To create a complete and efficient air-conditioning system with a Power K Reverse, it is sufficient to connect this external power unit to many evaporators of the Eberspaecher Kalori range.
