New onboard apps enhance BMW M digital experience

BMW M expands its digital ecosystem with a new generation of onboard applications designed to enhance the user experience in high-performance vehicles. The “M Cockpit,” “M Drag Meter,” and “M Channel” apps introduce advanced data visualisation, performance measurement, and integrated entertainment features aimed at improving interaction between driver and vehicle.

New digital functions for the driving experience
The new applications are accessible via the central display and are part of the BMW Digital Premium package, currently available for the new BMW iX3 with M Sport and M Sport Pro packages. The offering is intended to expand gradually to other BMW M models equipped with BMW Operating System X, supporting a digital ecosystem focused on personalisation and user experience.

M Cockpit: dynamic data and advanced personalisation
The “M Cockpit” app provides a comprehensive overview of key vehicle parameters in real time. The system displays information related to driving dynamics, chassis, powertrain, and geolocation, allowing the driver to configure up to five customizable dashboards. This approach enables users to tailor data visualisation according to individual preferences and different driving scenarios.

M Drag Meter: performance measurement with gamification elements
Designed for controlled acceleration scenarios, the “M Drag Meter” app introduces tools for analysing longitudinal vehicle performance. The system displays parameters such as acceleration, deceleration, and driver reaction time during standing starts, using GPS-based measurements for speed and distance. Drivers can select and display up to four measurement parameters simultaneously, adapting the configuration to individual requirements.

M Channel: integrated multimedia content onboard
With “M Channel,” BMW M integrates a dedicated multimedia channel directly into the vehicle for the first time. The app provides on-demand video content related to the BMW M brand, including tutorials, motorsport material, and enthusiast-focused features, displayed on the central screen with high-definition visuals and immersive audio. The platform is designed for use during driving breaks or charging sessions.

Evolution of the BMW M digital ecosystem
The introduction of the new onboard apps represents a further step in BMW M’s digitalisation strategy for the customer experience. Integrating performance analytics tools, advanced personalisation, and multimedia content helps transform the vehicle into an advanced digital platform with scalable and updatable capabilities over time.
