The HUMMER EV just keeps getting better: the Carbon Fiber Pickup offers a quicker launch time and all units are becoming more capable than ever, when later this year, 2022–2025 models are expected to have access to the all-new King Crab off-road mode via an over-the-air software update. The new rear-steer drive mode will debut on the 2026 HUMMER EV for even more off-road maneuverability. Additionally, the new Carbon Fiber Edition Pickup will offer a performance benchmark 0–60 mph acceleration of just 2.8 seconds — making this Pickup the quickest HUMMER EV yet.
The updates showcase the seamless integration of hardware, software, and services that makes HUMMER EV special. With King Crab, changes to the rear-wheel steering software and Vehicle Communication Unit cluster work together to enable the feature, delivered through a software update.
Unmasking Mystery Mode: Smarter Off-Roading with King Crab
HUMMER EV owners even got an early hint of King Crab. When the vehicle first launched, the Drive Mode Controller featured a “Mystery Mode” button, teasing future possibilities. That promise is planned to become reality as we debut King Crab on 2026 units, and make it available to HUMMER EV on the road through an OTA update.
Launching with the 2026 HUMMER EV and delivered later to all HUMMER EVs, King Crab Mode takes off-roading to the next level. With the rear wheels steering significantly faster than the front, the vehicle can swing and navigate through tight off-road spaces with precision and ease. Whether conquering rocky trails or maneuvering around obstacles, King Crab gives drivers superior control when it’s needed most.
Faster Than Ever: Enhanced Watts to Freedom
The new 2026 HUMMER EV Carbon Fiber Edition Pickup now offers the quickest yet. Thanks to software optimizations, the 3X Pickup with available 24-module battery rockets from 0–60 mph in just 2.8 seconds — cutting 0.2 seconds from the already blistering Watts to Freedom benchmark. This leap in performance comes from advanced software tuning and rigorous hardware validation.
Performance isn’t the only upgrade. In-vehicle entertainment updates make downtime more fun, with available Google built-in4 bringing access to popular apps like Chrome, GameSnacks and Prime Video. Owners can easily download apps from Google Play and use their existing streaming subscriptions while parked or charging.
