The mmWave short- and medium-range radar sensor features a 180° field of view (FoV) and can replace and outperform sets of ultrasonic sensors, while providing extra functionality, such as:
- Lateral collision warning for passenger and commercial vehicles
- Rear and front radar sensing, featuring 180° front and rear collision warning
- Surround awareness, including pedestrian detection and tracking
- Power door and tailgate protection
- Curb and pothole detection
- Gesture and kick sensing
Edge computing enables a variety of application scenarios, making the sensor suitable for everything from passenger and commercial vehicles to two-wheelers, including aftermarket deployment options.
NOVELIC’s mmWave radar sensor can detect vehicles in a 100-meter range with 180° coverage. It can detect objects closer than 5 cm, while also detecting low-lying objects, which is unattainable by ultrasonic technology.
The ability to cover 180° with a single radar module enables 360° surround sensing with fewer sensors, a more affordable system cost, and higher accuracy than any equivalent ultrasonic system on the market.
