OPTIMUM BACK PRESSURE FOR EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION

Reducing nitrogen oxide emissions is an important factor for meeting future emission standards worldwide.

OPTIMUM BACK PRESSURE FOR EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION

The EVG2 emission valve guarantees optimum back pressure – thanks to its fail-safe function, even in the event of voltage fluctuations or complete failure of the on-board electrical system.

  • Reduced nitrogen oxide emissions through new exhaust valve
  • Allows flexible control of the exhaust back pressure
  • Further element for compliance with upcoming emission limit values

Purem by Eberspächer contributes to this with its new emission valve EVG2. Compared to its predecessor, it is about 30 percent lighter and resistant to higher exhaust gas temperatures.

To prevent increased nitrogen oxide generation in the internal combustion engine, the temperatures in the combustion chamber must not be too high. If exhaust gas is recirculated with the optimal back pressure, the combustion temperatures drop. The Emission Valve Generation 2 (EVG2) from Purem by Eberspächer ensures this effect to reduce emissions.

Reliable function
Weighing only 900 grams and with a temperature resistance of up to 650 degrees Celsius, the Emission Valve Generation 2 (EVG2) is versatile. Compared to its predecessor, the emission valve is much smaller and requires little installation space. It is designed for common connection diameters and a maximum actuated back pressure of 600 mbar. Compared to its predecessor, this corresponds to a doubling of the possible back pressure in the exhaust system, allowing it to be used in different engine classes. In addition, it has a fail-safe functionality. This ensures the reliable functioning of the emission valve even in the event of fluctuations or complete failure of the on-board electrical system.

Smart and continuously adjustable
The integrated actuator in the EVG2 and the connector can be optimally integrated into the existing installation space. For this purpose, the actuator position can be rotated and the position of the connector can be selected flexibly according to customer requirements. In addition, the emission valve can be installed in both flow directions. The actuator is available as a non-smart or smart version with its own control intelligence. In both versions, it works at temperatures from -40 to +140 degrees Celsius. The valve plate of the EVG2 is continuously adjustable between 0 and 90 degrees. With its response times of only a few milliseconds on closing, the valve avoids any power losses.

The versatility of the EVG2 in terms of installation space and temperature resistance with its light weight make it a core product and an important technical platform in the portfolio of Purem by Eberspächer. The balanced cost-benefit ratio in particular is interesting for customers.
