Toyota Professional expands its range of customized commercial vehicles

Toyota Professional is expanding its strategy in the light commercial vehicle sector with the introduction of the new Conversion Program, a project developed to provide customized, integrated and ready-to-use professional solutions for business customers and specialized fleets.

The initiative comes during a period of strong growth for the brand’s LCV business in Italy. During the first four months of 2026, Toyota Professional exceeded 2,940 registrations in the Italian commercial vehicle market, reaching seventh position in the national LCV ranking. At the same time, the brand remains the leader in the Italian electric light commercial vehicle market, with a 27% market share and two models — Proace City and Proace Max — positioned in the top three of the BEV LCV segment.

New strategy for the specialized commercial vehicle market
According to Toyota, the light commercial vehicle market is increasingly evolving toward more specialized requirements from professional users, tradespeople, fleet operators and public sector organizations. Customers are increasingly looking for ready-to-work vehicles configured for dedicated applications and capable of being integrated immediately into daily operational processes. To address these requirements, the new Conversion Program expands and complements the existing Toyota Professional lineup with additional solutions developed for different professional sectors.

Expanded range of integrated professional configurations
Toyota Professional already offers several factory-developed configurations designed for specialized applications. These include Chassis, Tipper and Dropside versions for the Proace Max, as well as low-floor configurations for Proace City Verso and Proace Verso. The new program further expands the availability of professional conversions with the objective of creating a more complete and structured offering for the Italian LCV market.

According to Toyota, more than one-third of light commercial vehicles are currently sold with dedicated conversions, particularly in sectors such as construction, delivery, public administration and specialized transportation services.

Strategic partnership with Focaccia Group
To develop the project, Toyota has established a partnership with Focaccia Group, a company specializing in professional commercial vehicle conversions. The collaboration includes the phased development of new configurations for different operational applications. The program is structured in multiple stages and includes the initial launch of HACCP-certified conversions, followed by insulated body configurations during the summer and passenger transport versions later in the year.

Future developments are also planned for Crew Cab solutions and specialized van body configurations.

Initial focus on HACCP-certified conversions
The first phase of the project focuses on the HACCP segment dedicated to professional food transportation. The new HACCP Cover configurations have been developed to ensure regulatory compliance, hygiene and operational efficiency for applications such as catering, restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops and food delivery services. The conversion includes a fully lined cargo compartment using molded ABS panels, a waterproof, durable and easy-to-clean material. The surfaces are designed to withstand intensive cleaning with pressure washers or steam systems while maintaining high hygiene standards throughout daily operation.

According to Toyota, the conversion maintains the vehicle’s original cargo volume and payload capacity.

Compatibility with conventional and electric drivetrains
The HACCP conversions will be available across the entire Toyota Professional VAN lineup, including both conventional and electric powertrain versions. Configurations will range from the compact Proace City to the larger Proace Max. Toyota also highlights that the conversions benefit from the same three-year warranty coverage as the vehicle itself, without requiring additional approvals or certification procedures. Transportation of the converted vehicle is included to simplify the delivery process and reduce operational lead times.

Integrated customer experience and aftersales support
A central element of the new strategy is the integrated management of the customer relationship. Toyota Professional plans for dealerships to serve as a single point of contact for both the vehicle and the conversion during both sales and aftersales operations.

The partnership with Focaccia Group also includes specialized technical support, dedicated training and commercial consulting for professional applications.

Dedicated financial solutions for professional fleets
On the financial side, Toyota Financial Services Italia (TFSI) has developed a dedicated proposal for the converted Proace Family VAN range through the Toyota Easy Move program. The offering is designed to support professional operators and businesses requiring certified and immediately operational transportation solutions.

Growing demand for customized commercial vehicles
The launch reflects the evolution of the European light commercial vehicle market toward increasingly specialized and integrated configurations. Professional fleets are increasingly demanding ready-to-operate vehicles designed for specific vertical applications and compliant with stricter industry regulations, particularly in the food, logistics and urban service sectors. The expansion of Toyota Professional’s conversion offering also represents a strategic step to support growth in the electrified commercial vehicle market and integrated professional mobility services.

Additional Context: technical specifications and competitive benchmarking not included in the original announcement
In the European market for converted light commercial vehicles, Toyota Professional competes with manufacturers including Ford Pro, Renault Pro+, Stellantis Pro One, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Key competitive parameters include the availability of specialized configurations, delivery lead times, OEM integration of conversions, aftersales support, financing solutions and compatibility with electric vehicle platforms.

The professional LCV market is increasingly evolving toward integrated ecosystems where the vehicle, conversion, technical support and financial services are delivered as a unified solution. At the same time, demand for converted electric commercial vehicles is growing in urban logistics, food delivery and municipal services, driven by emissions regulations and the electrification of commercial fleets.

The presented solution is differentiated primarily through the combination of integrated OEM conversions, unified aftersales support, availability across both electric and conventional vehicle platforms and a specialized partnership with Focaccia Group for dedicated professional applications.
