VinFast and Autobrains Form Strategic Partnership to Advance Affordable Autonomous Driving
The strategic collaboration focuses on the research and development of enhanced L2++ autonomous driving technologies for future VinFast electric vehicles.

VinFast and Autobrains, a leading automotive AI technology company, have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop next-generation autonomous driving solutions, including enhanced Level 2++ (L2++) systems and a new, affordable autonomous vehicle architecture designed to enable self-driving capabilities across a wide range of vehicles.

The collaboration will focus on research and development of advanced L2++ autonomous driving technologies for future VinFast electric vehicles. VinFast’s current EV lineup already features Level 2 driver-assistance functions, while pilot testing of the upgraded L2++ system is underway on the VF 8 and VF 9 models. The partnership provides a pathway for VinFast to progressively deploy more advanced autonomous capabilities across its portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to safer, smarter, and more intuitive mobility solutions.

In parallel, VinFast and Autobrains will co-develop a novel “Robo-Car” system—an AI-driven autonomous architecture designed to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of self-driving vehicles. The system eliminates the need for LiDAR, radar arrays, and high-definition maps, instead relying on seven standard cameras and a compact, high-performance computing chip capable of processing approximately 20 trillion operations per second.

The Robo-Car platform is powered by Autobrains’ Agentic AI architecture, which enables adaptive, human-like driving behavior while minimizing computational requirements. This is complemented by Autobrains’ Air-to-Road localization technology, a camera-based mapping approach that combines real-time visual data with satellite imagery to remove dependence on HD maps. Together, these technologies form a scalable foundation for affordable Level 4 autonomous driving, suitable for both emerging and developed markets.

Initial Robo-Car testing is currently underway in controlled zones in Hanoi, with plans to expand trials to larger urban areas and international markets.

“VinFast’s strategic partnership with Autobrains supports our long-term vision of making advanced autonomous driving safe, affordable, and accessible to everyone,” said Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Global Deputy CEO of VinFast and Director of its ADAS/AD Research Institute. “Our goal is to bring cutting-edge mobility technologies from early adopters to everyday drivers worldwide.”

Autobrains CEO Igal Raichelgauz added: “The Robo-Car system we are developing with VinFast is already demonstrating confident and precise autonomous driving in real traffic conditions. This collaboration reflects our shared mission to democratize autonomous mobility and deliver meaningful benefits in safety, comfort, and freedom.”

The partnership aligns with VinFast’s broader global expansion strategy, which includes scaling production, expanding its electric vehicle lineup, and strengthening its presence in key international markets through collaboration with leading technology partners.
