MAZDA CX-6e (European specification model)

Mazda Motor Corporation has introduced the MAZDA CX-6e, a new battery electric crossover SUV planned for Europe, Australia, and additional markets. The model is positioned as Mazda’s next BEV step for regions where demand, infrastructure, and regulatory conditions vary, with launch timing set for Europe in the summer and Australia later in the year.

The MAZDA CX-6e made its world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium on January 9 and becomes the second model in Mazda’s collaborative battery EV lineup, following the MAZDA 6e and building on the MAZDA EZ-60 shown at the Shanghai Motor Show last year.

Global rollout and platform collaboration
The CX-6e is part of Mazda’s battery EV program developed in collaboration with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. Mazda positions the vehicle as combining its own design and “Jinba-ittai” (human-machine unity) driving characteristics with the electrification and intelligent-vehicle technologies supplied through the partnership.

Mazda frames this as a “multi-solution approach” intended to keep powertrain strategy flexible across regions, rather than relying on a single technology pathway.

Design theme and driving setup for Europe
Mazda applies its “FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN” design concept to the CX-6e, focusing on sculptural exterior styling intended to communicate both design identity and EV-era technology.

For vehicle dynamics, the CX-6e’s handling and ride comfort have been optimized for European market preferences, with Mazda linking this tuning effort to its Jinba-ittai driving philosophy.

Driver interface and intelligent features
The CX-6e includes a set of intelligent technologies aimed at driver support and comfort, including voice recognition and gesture recognition. Mazda also references advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and digital side mirrors as part of the technology package, targeted at improving visibility and convenience while driving.

How it fits Mazda’s current BEV momentum
In Europe, Mazda cites early traction for its MAZDA 6e mid-size BEV sedan, launched last September. The CX-6e expands this BEV presence in the region, adding a crossover SUV format aligned with mainstream demand in European and Australian markets.

Mazda’s stated intent is to continue scaling electrified products while maintaining its established vehicle dynamics focus, positioning the CX-6e as the next step in that roadmap.
