IVECO Advances Smart and Safe Road Mobility through V2X Technology

Within the MOST National Centre for Sustainable Mobility, a European Union-funded initiative under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Next Generation EU, IVECO, in collaboration with Accenture, has developed a software solution that significantly improves road safety for both drivers and pedestrians. The system leverages Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, enabling vehicles to exchange real-time data with other vehicles, infrastructure, and vulnerable road users to anticipate hazards and enhance situational awareness.

Solution: V2X-Enabled Collective Perception
The solution integrates on-board sensors with algorithms to detect vulnerable road users, generating Collective Perception Messages (CPMs) shared among connected vehicles and traffic infrastructure. By aggregating data from multiple sources, the system can “see” beyond the limits of a single vehicle’s sensors, providing a comprehensive, real-time understanding of road conditions. This approach supports safer and smarter mobility while increasing network efficiency.

Tested using the eDaily, IVECO’s fully electric light commercial vehicle, the V2X system demonstrates how connectivity and data intelligence can redefine road safety and driving performance.
