Electric Retrofit: A Cost-Effective Path to Decarbonizing Fleets
Beyond charging infrastructure, Valeo supports extending the life of combustion-engine vehicles by offering technologies adapted to electric retrofit, i.e., converting combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. This conversion is carried out by new specialized players: retrofitters.

Valeo’s offering includes standardized OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components such as electric motors, chargers/converters, and inverters. Combined with the expertise of retrofitters, it meets the need to transform municipal fleets (from utility and technical vehicles to small buses), reducing carbon emissions without having to replace all vehicles.

Giving Light Mobility Vehicles and Components a Second Life
Valeo also encourages extending the life cycle of micro-mobility, a key lever for contributing to the local circular economy. These services include the remanufacturing of batteries, motors, and displays for bicycles and other electric micro-mobility solutions.

For example, as part of its partnership with Smovengo, Valeo repairs batteries for Vélib bikes, remanufacturing 400 units each month and recovering more than 90% of the original materials per battery. The Group has also signed a strategic partnership with VoltR, a specialist in the life cycle of lithium batteries, to develop a joint repair and remanufacturing offering in Europe, guaranteeing a minimum of 95% material savings.
