Rutronik Showcased AI Advances in Automotive and Industrial Sectors

From October 14 to 15, the Rutronik AI³ Connect Congress brought together more than 120 leading tech innovators and manufacturers to explore the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence in the Automotive and Industrial sectors.

In With two dedicated tracks, "AI in Automotive" and "AI in Industry", the congress provided in-depth knowledge of the latest technologies, practical applications, and future trends.

Rutronik welcomed speakers from Advantech, Adlink, ams OSRAM, Axelera AI, Bertrandt, BMW, Bosch, Brusa, COMI, Dräxlmaier, Elmos, Festo, Infineon, Intel, Phoenix Contact, and Vishay. The congress consisted of 18 talks, out of these nine in each track, two keynotes, and one final panel discussion for the entire audience.

AI in Automotive: From smart mobility to energy ecosystems
The talks in the "AI in Automotive" track focused on how AI is reshaping mobility, safety, and energy efficiency.

  • Power electronics for EVs: Vishay and Bosch explored next-generation power semiconductors and circuit topologies that enable bidirectional charging and integration into smart energy infrastructures.
  • System-level integration: Bertrandt discussed how AI is embedded throughout the development of vehicles, from simulation to validation, bridging the gap between hardware and software for future mobility. BMW shared insights on data acquisition within the vehicular power system.
  • In-cabin intelligence and safety: AMS OSRAM presented advanced sensor solutions for driver monitoring and cabin personalization, demonstrating how AI can improve comfort and safety.

AI in Industry: Intelligence at the edge of automation
The talks in the "AI in Industry" track addressed the role of AI in automation, predictive maintenance, and smart manufacturing.

  • Modular automation and control: Festo and Advantech presented flexible AI platforms and control systems that adapt to changing production needs. These systems enable predictive maintenance and energy optimization.
  • Edge AI and Scalable Platforms: Intel and Axelera AI demonstrated how real-time analytics and neural compute engines enable autonomous decision-making in factories and logistics.
  • Edge AI meets smart data: Infineon’s PSOC™ Edge allows for real-time AI inference on industrial devices, and COMI’s hybrid approach to real and synthetic data ensures robust model training. Together, these technologies pave the way for scalable, decentralized intelligence in smart factories.

Cross-track synergy: Toward the All-Electric Society
The congress concluded with a panel on the "All-Electric Society" tying both tracks together. The discussion highlighted how AI enables:

  • Bidirectional energy flows between vehicles, homes, and factories
  • Predictive load balancing across mobility and industrial systems
  • Shared infrastructure for smart cities and decentralized energy networks

This convergence highlights Rutronik's vision, which has been set in motion through internal and external transformation processes. Artificial intelligence is not just a tool; it is a strategic enabler of a connected, electric, and intelligent future. One proof of this is the successful partnership with COMI to automate Rutronik's logistics processes.
