ZF AFTERMARKET MAKES SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT EASIER WITH SPECIALLY DEVELOPED TOOL KIT

Professional workshop staff need professional tools, so ZF Aftermarket has introduced an assembly tool kit for shock absorber replacement to its range of special tools. This allows shock absorbers with piston rod journals to be mounted correctly without damaging the piston rod.

As changing shock absorbers is an everyday task in automotive workshops, it’s vital to use the correct high-quality tools tailored to this repair job: Because then the screwing is not only safer, but the mechatronics engineer also saves time. And in the case of a frequently occurring repair, the store can noticeably increase its contribution margin with just a few minutes saved per job. It also reduces the risk of the spare part being damaged.

That's why ZF Aftermarket now offers its customers a specially developed assembly tool kit for shock absorber replacement. This can be used to safely install most of the high-quality dampers in ZF Aftermarket's spare parts range. At the same time, the tool kit meets the requirements of the vehicle manufacturers and enables new parts to be installed to exact OE repair instructions.

The tools are ergonomically shaped, and their compact design makes them well suited for tight installation spaces. Because the kit contains everything necessary for the safe and efficient exchange of parts, the utilization of other commonly used workshop tools is unnecessary. As examples: using an impact wrench to tighten or loosen the piston rod nut which can damage the damper valves, or the use of small open-end wrenches or pliers to hold the piston rod in place when tightening the piston rod nut which can easily slip off and damage the piston rod pin. This is impossible with the Sachs assembly tool kit as it contains a through ratchet and special long nuts, through which the piston rod can be held.

In addition, two expanding sockets are included which make it easy to remove shock absorbers with a clamp fit in the wheel carrier. The tool set comprises a total of 17 individual parts and is stored in a high-quality, sturdy plastic case.

The shock absorber assembly tool kit adds to ZF Aftermarket’s range of special tools for driveline and chassis repair. These include: a testing tool for the dual-mass flywheel; a lateral runout tester for clutch discs; a clutch centering set for trucks and tools for changing the XTend self-adjusting clutch on passenger cars and vans. Also available, in a practical case, is the cleaning system for electrical contact surfaces. This can be used to clean contacts that are difficult to access, reducing contact resistance and preventing electronic faults.
