Flexible rotational dip coating for next-generation body shops

Dürr unveils RoDip Ezy, the latest generation of its electric rotational dip technology for pretreatment and cathodic electrocoating. Designed to simplify plant layouts and increase operational flexibility, the new system replaces RoDip E while maintaining the proven benefits of rotational dip processing.

Compact design with enhanced drive technology
RoDip Ezy features a newly engineered architecture, including redesigned trolleys, rail systems, energy transmission, and control components. At its core is a compact rotating drive based on a cycloidal gearbox—technology already proven in Dürr’s industrial robotics—delivering high reliability and reduced maintenance.

The system supports a standardized trolley concept across multiple vehicle types, from passenger cars to vans, enabling scalable and consistent operation.

Curved routing eliminates turntables
A key innovation is the ability to run on curved line layouts. Unlike previous systems that relied on turntables for direction changes, RoDip Ezy allows trolleys to navigate both left and right curves.

This eliminates complex turntables, reduces system complexity, and enables more flexible plant configurations. Manufacturers can implement either traditional two-loop systems or streamlined one-loop configurations, reducing conveyor requirements, rail infrastructure, and equipment footprint.

Greater flexibility in plant design
With the capability to handle curves of 180 degrees or more, RoDip Ezy adapts easily to space constraints and varying distances between process stages. This makes it suitable for both new installations and the modernization of existing production lines.

Lightweight rail system for faster installation
The new rail system uses standardized aluminum profiles, replacing heavier steel components. This reduces installation time, simplifies integration, and minimizes the need for complex alignment during setup.

Proven process with improved efficiency
Building on a technology that has protected over 100 million vehicle bodies worldwide, RoDip Ezy retains the core advantages of the rotational dip process. By rotating bodies along their own axis, the system requires shorter immersion tanks, improving space efficiency and reducing resource consumption.

With RoDip Ezy, Dürr expands its portfolio with a flexible, programmable solution that enhances plant design freedom while maintaining high performance and reliability in automotive coating operations.
